There are few countries that are not suffering the effects of the fallout from the US economic situation and the global knock-on effect. No one is immune and therefore at some point every company will need to assess its position.

In the short term economies fluctuate up and down, whilst the long term is generally only up. Leadership is the key to both survival in the short term and sustainable growth in the long term.

Mr. Simon Hurst will address the following:

Swings and Roundabouts: - The Economic Cycle.
Snakes and Ladders: - Long Term Growth.
Horses for Courses: - Factors Influencing Financial Management Leadership.

Simon is an Executive Director and Chief of Staff at Beijing Gao Hua Securities, Goldman Sachs' joint venture partner in China. Simon joined Goldman Sachs in 2005, in Tokyo, where he was Controller of the principle investing businesses, and Head of Financial Reporting.

He moved to Gao Hua Securities in Beijing in 2008 to take up his current role. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Simon spent 11 years at JP Morgan, in a variety of roles in Finance, and has been based in locations as diverse as London, Paris, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
