SwissCham Beijing’s Young Professionals' Forum provides Young Professionals with a networking platform tailored to their needs and giving them access to high profile and experienced business executives in order to talk about issues which are at the core of their career development. This all happens in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, allowing Young Professionals from various industries and backgrounds to meet and interact around a glass of wine.

“Insurance Industry Development and its Opportunities

for Young Professionals”



In an interactive dialogue, our speakers will be given the opportunity to present the market development of the insurance industry and how the young professionals should prepare themselves in the frame of their career. The event will be the occasion also for the speakers to discuss about their personal experience and to introduce their own point of view on what is expected nowadays from young professionals in the insurance industry.

Robert WIEST

Managing Director, SWISS RE China

Member of the Asia Management Team



Based in Beijing, Robert Wiest is Managing Director for Swiss Re China.

Robert started his career at Swiss Re in 1995 as an engineering underwriter for the Italian market. From 1998 to 2000 he serviced a number of European markets as engineering underwriting manager and headed special lines at Swiss Re Italia where he was a member of the local executive team.

In 2004 he was in charge of developing Swiss Re's P&C Business Group's Global Facultative System (GFS). In May 2005 he was appointed as Market Executive for Western & Southern Europe, and took on additional responsibility for the Middle East, Turkey and Pakistan from September 2006.

He relocated to Beijing, China to head up this important market in November 2008.

A graduate engineer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), he majored in semiconductor and chip design at the Technical University of Munich, Faculty of Electrical

Engineering.






Ken ZHAO

General Manager, ZURICH INSURANCE Beijing



Ken Zhao joined Zurich Group in August 2008 as General Manager of Beijing Branch. Under his efficient leadership, a significant growth in local commercial and global corporate business has been achieved, which also contributed a lot for the group's sustainable development in China.

Before his joining Zurich, Ken worked for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company in Shanghai for more than 10 years. He was in charge of business development and strategy management as Business Director. In 2003, as Assistant General Manager, Ken led business management of the company, including underwriting, etc.

In addition, Mr. Ken has been awarded as Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The Registration Process



Registration fee to be paid at the entrance. The price includes two free drinks (wine, beer or soft drink) and finger food. Members are asked to bring their member card.

If you are a Young Professional aged around 25-35 years old and who never took part in the YPF, you are welcome to register by filling in the registration form.
